Did you know that Scotland is on target to become one of the first Fairtrade nations in the world? The Scottish Government is promoting the drive towards this amazing goal and during 2011 the Scottish Fairtrade Forum is aiming to have 365 pledges from individuals or groups who will change their habits by choosing a Fairtrade product. Sir Alex Ferguson is now a drinker of Fairtrade tea!
Already in Scotland, 6 cities, 9 universities and 50 towns have Fairtrade status and are helping others to build themselves a better future. For us in Selkirk recognition is drawing closer. We are holding a further promotional event where you can taste Fairtrade food products.
Join us at Selkirk Parish Church Hall on Saturday, 3 September between 10-12 for delicious coffee, tea and bakes made from as many Fairtrade ingredients as we can find! There will be a cake stall; Fairtrade home bakes (of course!); and a range of cards, crafts, and gifts on sale from Traidcraft, a leading Fairtrade company.
Sainsbury’s is generously supporting our event by supplying Fairtrade coffee and tea which can be purchased in the local shop.
Please come and join us at our coffee morning and be part of the local effort to make Selkirk a Fairtrade Town. You will also be helping Scotland towards its goal to become a Fairtrade nation.
